Whether you live in London, went to school or university in London, or had ancestors who were born and raised in London, we have connections of various kinds to the country’s capital.

At Ancestry, we are fortunate to call the London Metropolitan Archive one of our key partners and through our work with them, bring you closer to your ancestral connections with London city.

This year is a big year for London Metropolitan Archive who are celebrating their 950th anniversary. To mark this milestone and to reflect on our on-going partnership with the LMA family, we headed to the London Metropolitan Archives’ headquarters to host our first ever Facebook Live event.

We brought together Ancestry spokesperson, Russell James, LMA director, Geoff Pick and beloved London local, Sir Tony Robinson to discuss London’s history and the incredible heritage that exists between its city walls. You can watch the full Facebook live stream below.

Since our partnership with the LMA began, we have been working together to help connect Ancestry users not only with their ancestors but with the capital city their family called home. Collections currently available on Ancestry include everything from School Admissions and Discharge Lists through to Gameskeepers’ Licenses and Electoral Registers.

Most recently, we’re excited to have added new records to 844 parishes within the:
London Non-conformist Registers (1694-1931)
London, England, Church of England Marriages and Banns, 1754-1930
London, England, Church of England Deaths and Burials, 1813-2003
London, England, Church of England Confirmation Records, 1838-1921
London, England, Church of England Births and Baptisms, 1813-1916
London, England, Church of England Baptisms, Marriages and Burials, 1538-1812.
